NEAR Protocol Surges 15% as Cross-Chain Activity Hits $19 Billion — What's Driving the Rally?
NEAR Protocol's token has surged another 15% in the past 24 hours, pushing its price to $2.8 and extending a remarkable month-long rally that has nearly doubled its value — a 90% gain in just 30 days.
The move is turning heads across the crypto market, with three key catalysts driving the momentum.
NEAR Intents: The Engine Behind the Rally
The primary fuel for NEAR's price surge is a product called NEAR Intents — the network's cross-chain transaction system that has quietly become one of the most used tools in decentralized finance.
NEAR Intents allows users to simply state what they want — for example, swapping USDC on Ethereum for SOL on Solana — and third-party solvers handle the technical execution behind the scenes. This makes cross-chain transactions seamless and accessible to ordinary users.
The numbers speak for themselves: NEAR Intents has now processed more than $19 billion in cumulative volume and generated approximately $32 million in fees, drawing renewed institutional and retail attention to the protocol.
Arthur Hayes Calls NEAR Part of Crypto's "Holy Trinity"
Adding further momentum, BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes publicly described NEAR, Hyperliquid's HYPE token, and ZEC as crypto's "holy trinity" in a widely shared social media post. He later followed up suggesting there is a "long way to go" in the current rally — a statement that sent additional buying pressure into NEAR.
Institutional Demand Growing
Institutional interest is also building. The Bitwise NEAR Staking ETP, listed in Europe, has grown to approximately $40 million in assets under management, recording $7 million in inflows in a single week — a sign that professional investors are beginning to take NEAR seriously as a long-term infrastructure play.
June Network Upgrade on the Horizon
Investors are also positioning ahead of an important June upgrade that introduces dynamic resharding — a technical improvement that automatically splits network shards as demand increases, making the network significantly more scalable during periods of heavy usage.
Still Far From Its Peak
Despite the strong rally, NEAR remains well below its 2022 all-time high near $20, suggesting significant room for further upside if momentum continues.
NEAR Protocol is a Layer-1 blockchain focused on AI infrastructure, cross-chain applications, and scalability. Its proof-of-stake architecture and growing ecosystem of cross-chain tools are positioning it as a serious competitor in the next phase of blockchain adoption.
